8 INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCES TO HAVE IN ACAPULCO, MEXICO

I was recently invited to Acapulco, Mexico and had the opportunity to explore the city with the Acapulco Tourism Board. Located on Mexico's Pacific Coast, Acapulco is a beachy resort town made famous in the 50's and 60's by celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley! I've visited Cancun and Los Cabos, but I had never been to Acapulco. With its luxurious beachside resorts, glitzy nightlife and delicious food, I knew there would be plenty to fall in love with.

As with any other destination, should you find yourself visiting Acapulco, be sure to thoroughly research the safety of the areas you will be exploring. We spent most of our time in the tourist and resort areas and found there were a ton of adventurous activities to fill the time! If you are visiting Mexico soon, here is a list of activities to help you explore the best of Acapulco!

1. RELAX AT A LUXURIOUS RESORT

If you're looking for a way to experience the finest accommodations Acapulco has to offer, you must stay at one of the famous luxury resorts. The beautiful decor, 5-star service and stunning views are just the beginning! Here are a few properties I recommend:

Las Brisas Acapulco

With gorgeous pink and white decor throughout the property and stunning coastline views, this is one of the top places to stay in Acapulco. The attention to detail and incredible customer service completely stole my heart from the moment I arrived! Recently renovated, Las Brisas is an all-suite hotel overlooking Santa Lucia Bay. Did you know the Kennedys and Clintons honeymooned here? At night, see the entire coastline shining brightly as you enjoy dinner in one of the amazing on-site restaurants. I highly recommend splurging for the villa with a private pool!

Encanto Acapulco

I was lucky enough to visit Hotel Encanto for breakfast one of the days I was in Acapulco. This chic, design hotel with modern details and pristine white decor is sure to take your breath away! The contemporary property boasts suites with ocean-view balconies, an outdoor restaurant and a pool that will make you want to stay forever!

Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués

Surrounded by scenic mountains, this Banyan Tree property promises only the finest -- elegant villas, private pools + decks and a stunning infinity pool with the best sunset view you can imagine. Even Justin Bieber spent some time here during his trip to Acapulco earlier this year. This magnificent resort is perfect for anyone seeking absolute relaxation and unparalleled privacy!

2. WATCH THE LA QUEBRADA CLIFF DIVERS

One of the most famous tourist attractions in Acapulco, the La Quebrada cliff divers have been entertaining crowds daily since 1934 by jumping off of two ledges on the cliff (one at 40 feet and one at 80 feet)! Quite a thrill to watch, you'll notice the divers waiting for just the right moment to jump and catch an incoming wave to avoid serious injury or death. Hold your breath as you watch these divers take a leap of faith!

3. TOUR THE LAGUNA DE TRES PALOS

Located east of the city of Acapulco, this fresh-water lagoon is great for viewing wildlife and cruising through a natural garden of wildflowers. It was such a fun and relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Our tour guide even created necklaces for us using fresh lotus flowers straight from the lagoon!

4. INDULGE IN AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE

There's nothing I love more than authentic, flavorful food when I'm in Mexico! What's better than fresh ceviche, sopas and empanadas in arm's reach?

5. TASTE MEXICO'S FINEST TEQUILA

If you love tequila, there's no place better to experience some of the finest than in Mexico! We were invited to a private tequila tasting at Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués. The entire set up was so amazing!

6. VISIT SAN DIEGO FORT

The Fort of San Diego is a star-shaped fort in Acapulco built by the Spanish Empire and is notably one of the most important Spanish forts along the Pacific coast. If you're a history buff, this is a great spot to learn more about the history and culture of Acapulco.

7. CRUISE ACAPULCO BAY IN A PRIVATE YACHT

Acapulco Bay is best explored from the water itself! Renting a private yacht or sailboat for the day is a great way to take in the warm sun and refreshing waters with good company. You can even enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking or snorkeling while you're out on the water.

8. FLY ALONG THE WORLD'S LONGEST OVERWATER ZIP-LINE

If you're an adrenaline junkie like me, then Acapulco's XTASEA zip-line is a must-do. An unforgettable 2 minute long ride will take you across Puerto Marqués Bay with stunning views all around. You'll ride superman-style and experience 1800 meters of intense emotion. With parallel lines running, you can even take the plunge with a friend! After coming to a stop, you better believe I wanted to go all over again!
